A Leaders Assesment

You will now need to really pay attention to the message within the conversation. People will say things they want you to “feel their emotional highs and lows” without sharing their hearts with you. You will need to begin to do the work that you were blessed to do…. LEAD as an empathetic leader. Fair, firm and with a high level of integrity. Yes, it will not give you many fans in the board room but you have already acknowledged you have a higher calling so by now you will have made peace with it.

What are the real strengths of the team? How can the individuals contribute to the team, department, division, organization and industries they touch?

You should begin to move them to the tip of their comfort zone. For some you will need to prove to them that the world is round and they will not fall of if they take one step forward. Others, you will need to acknowledge they are all they can be.

For a very select few, you will need to help them find their new paths of success and comfort.

Yes, you NOW carry their crosses so therefore don’t marginalize, hurt or have them ever go home thinking that they have let their families down. These are folks that go home to their spouses & children and are looked at as heroes. Their children want to emulate them when they grow up.

DO NOT EVER discount that your words don’t just end careers, they tarnish souls and can crumble any confidence that they have.

Are you beginning to realize this three level chessboard is far more complex not just intellectually but emotionally demanding as well? (we will touch on the famous word Emotional Intelligence at a later note)

You wanted to play at this level of chess and now you are the captain of not just your ship but theirs as well.
